Before the flight – not on a waiting bench, but on a marathon track. At Vilnius Airport, the newly opened “Lemon Gym” active movement space near the departure gates was transformed into a marathon running track, where every passenger waiting for their flight could take part. The meters completed on the treadmill became part of a shared goal – to collectively complete the full 42.195 km marathon distance.

“We wanted to create an experience that would both surprise and inspire. The marathon here is a symbol showing that even a small movement or just a few minutes of activity can make a difference,” says the organizers of the initiative.

Workout – not only at the sports club

“Sport is not just about a place or a specific time, it is a habit that can begin anywhere, even at the airport while waiting for a flight. For some, it may be a few stretching exercises and for others, a minute of running. The most important thing is to move according to your own abilities and to do it as often as possible,” emphasizes Lithuanian long-distance runner Diana Lobačevskė.

With a symbolic marathon, the Vilnius Airport officially opened the “Lemon Gym” active movement space designed for airport passengers, which was also tested by Diana Lobačevskė. From now on, the space is open to all passengers waiting for their flights.

Ieva, who took part in the marathon held at Vilnius Airport, shared that for her it was a great opportunity to stay active before her upcoming flight. At the same time, it was a unique experience she could try right here in Vilnius. Ieva also spoke very positively about the new active movement space.

According to her, it is a great place both for adults to get moving before a flight and for children to stay active and entertained. “Encouraging people to change their attitude toward active movement is a very important step forward,” she said.

According to Raimonda, who also participated in the airport marathon, both the active movement space and the marathon itself were truly great ideas. Although it was the first marathon of this kind she had ever taken part in, she admitted that in the future she dreams of participating in the Rotterdam Marathon together with her family.

Before the flight – a few minutes for some movement

“Lemon Gym” CEO Greta Radzevičienė emphasizes that the initiative was created to promote an active and healthy lifestyle even in everyday situations, while also reminding people that even short moments can be used for movement and physical activity.

“At the beginning of a journey, opportunities to stay active are often limited and people spend time waiting at document control or in line at the boarding gate. However, even short physical activity can help not only make better use of that time, but also improve overall well-being. We want to remind people that sometimes just a few minutes of movement are enough to feel better,” says Greta Radzevičienė.

That is exactly why a free 24/7 active movement space has been installed at Vilnius Airport. The “Lemon Gym” active movement space is located near boarding gates A16 and A17.

“As Lithuanian Airports and Vilnius Airport welcome record passenger flows, we aim not only to ensure the best possible travel experience, but also to contribute to the development of healthier habits. In the “Lemon Gym” training space, we invite passengers to get moving and start their journey in a great mood. We are pleased to offer an activity at the airport that encourages physical activity and allows travelers to spend their pre-flight time meaningfully,” says Nerilė Mažeikienė.

Passengers of different ages will be able to exercise.

The active movement space is designed for physical activity for passengers of different ages. It features an interactive and playful area for both children and adults, where a reaction-based game encourages movement from the youngest to the oldest users and adds an element of fun. Travelers will also find modern exercise equipment that allows them to stay active while working on a computer, which is especially useful for business trips. There is also a space for a quick warm-up or stretching exercises before a flight.

According to the CEO of “Lemon Gym” Greta Radzevičienė, the main goals when creating the space were simplicity and accessibility. Movement does not require special sportswear or a lot of time — first and foremost, it only requires the willingness to move.

In recent years, “Lemon Gym” has been actively expanding, and although the training space at Vilnius Airport is smaller compared to regular clubs, it symbolically becomes another part of the network.

“We say that this is our 19th club in Vilnius and the 34th in the Baltic States – just a slightly different one, open to all passengers at Vilnius Airport. Everyone is welcome here to move and exercise freely,” emphasizes Greta Radzevičienė.

According to her, “Lemon Gym” continues its active expansion, with new club openings and renovations planned. Having nearly doubled its number of clubs in the past two years, the company intends to maintain this growth pace, with further openings planned for this autumn.
